About Me
I am a certificated Kimono Dresser based in Japan, mainly being active around Kanto and Kansai area.
I offer kimono dressing( Kitsuke ) services, kimono wearing lectures( Online / Face to Face ), kimono shopping tour concierge services and so on.
My earliest memory of wearing kimono is when I was seven.
I was so exited putting make up on and dressing in kimono for the celebration of “Shici-go-san”;
the traditional Japanese event to celebrate the healthy growth of children.
Somehow, I still remember the vivid images of myself wearing purple antique kimono,
with the sense of smooth texture and comfortable warmth of silk.
Being relaxed, I was truly happy to share that special moment with my loved ones.
Occasionally, I have gotten a chance to experience kimono as our tradition.
More and more it became memorable and something special, I started questioning to myself “Why can’t I wear our tradition by myself?!”
Since then, getting the techniques of wearing this cloth has been the major issues for me.
Nowadays, kimono has become obsolete as everyday clothes even for the majority of Japanese.
I am no exception.
It is said that, for reasons such as its inconvenience, we increasingly took to western clothes rather than kimono especially after World War II.
As a result, main stream of kimono industry rapidly become more exclusive for surviving.
With no doubt, they have decided to focus on putting additional value with luxurious images for improving customer loyalty and satisfaction.
Due to this marketing trend, some beginners may experience a conflict or difficult time
to find the right way to fill one’s personal needs.
Actually, I used to suffer from the complex structure of this industry
which tends to require everyone to follow the specific strict rules or stereotypes of how it supposed to be. Even if I hoped to have fun with it…
The basic fundamentals are important for sure.
Being well-groomed, neat and tidy shows concern for others at special occasions.
Although, because of it’s uniqueness and flexibilities, I think it should be accepted to enrich our life with kimono more freely anytime and anywhere.
As well as we still enjoy events which mark the stages of one’s life, we can live with our traditional cloth even everyday bases like we used to be. Combination of our tradition and modernity will create a new value of living which is sustainable and renewable globally.
If you look for the services which will enrich your daily life with kimono, please do not hesitate to contact me! I can offer you lessons with a wide variety of styles ranging from casual to formal kimono.
I want to share my experiences with you and be a help to improve our ability of enjoying kimono life together.
Thank you.
